Blue Giant Launches Airbag Dock Leveler

Brampton, ON, Canada (July 2010) – Blue Giant Equipment Corporation has launched its new U-Series airbag dock leveler, the first in a line of air-powered loading dock equipment that will demonstrate the company’s commitment to environmental responsibility and ‘green’ building practices.

The U-Series airbag dock leveler is easy to install and comes standard with a single push button control for sequenced deck and lip operation.  The blower motor (available in 115 or 230 VAC single phase) delivers air on demand, inflating the reinforced, PVC-coated dual air bags and raising the deck. When the push button on the control station is released, the bags deflate, allowing the deck to lower smoothly onto the trailer bed.

ANSI MH30.1 (2007) approved, the airbag dock leveler’s deck is supported by a minimum of six U-beams, which bolster its strength and prevent ‘dishing’. The nominal operating range is 12” (300mm) above and 12” below dock level.  It comes standard with a fixed rear hinge, which allows the deck to flex up to 4” (101mm) when under load and minimizes the bumps and jolts than can accompany the cross-docking process. For more demanding applications, the fixed rear hinge design can be advanced to assured motion float, a 4” (101mm) maintained deck tilt that allows the dock leveler to withstand more challenging applications (i.e. uneven driveway grades or canted truck beds) without  experiencing deck fatigue.

The airbag dock leveler performs safely and efficiently during demanding usage conditions, temperature extremes, and exposure to potentially caustic substances.  The mechanical fall-safe system provides additional worker protection by limiting free-fall of a loaded platform. Other safety devices include full operating range metal toe guards, yellow safety skirts, and a telescopic maintenance strut that holds the deck in place during maintenance and inspections.
