Blue Giant Powers a New Warehouse with 16 Dock Positions

The Company

Bucci Construction, a leading commercial builder, partnered with Northern Dock Systems to develop a new Calgary warehouse. For efficient and reliable dock operations, they chose Blue Giant’s high-performance dock equipment, expertly installed by Northern Dock Systems, an authorized Blue Giant dealer known for quality service.

The Problem

Bucci Construction needed a full-scale loading dock solution for their 16 loading docks and 5 drive-in door positions. Their priority was to ensure seamless trailer loading and unloading, minimize maintenance requirements, enhance energy efficiency, and protect the facility from impact damage. They required durable, high-performance dock equipment that would support daily operations while optimizing safety and efficiency.

The Solution

Northern Dock Systems installed a comprehensive loading dock package featuring Blue Giant hydraulic dock levelers, adjustable head curtain dock seals, sectional overhead doors, and steel-face dock bumpers. These solutions were designed to maximize efficiency, reduce maintenance, and enhance workplace safety.

Hydraulic Dock Levelers for Streamlined Operations

Each of the 16 loading dock positions was equipped with Blue Giant Hydraulic Dock Levelers with pour-in-pans. These levelers provide easy push-button operation, reducing manual effort and expediting the loading/unloading process. Compared to mechanical levelers, hydraulic models have fewer moving parts, meaning lower maintenance costs and increased reliability over time.

Adjustable Head Curtain Dock Seals for Energy Efficiency

To maintain temperature control and energy efficiency, Blue Giant BG200 Adjustable Head Curtain Dock Seals were installed at all loading dock positions. These seals create a tight barrier around trailers, preventing contaminants, drafts, and energy loss during loading and unloading.

The dock installation was complemented by Insulated Sectional Overhead Doors to enhance security, durability, and insulation.

Steel-Face Dock Bumpers for Long-Term Protection

To safeguard the facility against trailer impact damage, each dock position was fitted with Blue Giant steel-face dock bumpers. These heavy-duty bumpers provide long-lasting protection, reducing the risk of structural damage and extending the lifespan of dock equipment.
